Hot and humid in Maricopa AZ, with NWS alerts about high winds and dust storms, monsoon rain on Thursday night, lightning on Thursday and Friday nights. Birds were scarce but steady on the Thursday opener, shot a limit with my 686 Black Onyx 28ga. Friday was a different story, with far fewer birds in the morning, so we finished our limits in the afternoon. Saturday morning was a bust, I got one mourning dove. Bonus birds were a mix of a few Euros and some feed lot, corn-fed pigeons for the chili pot. Game warden said it was very slow around Maricopa and Casa Grande. Drove over 1,000 miles for 31 doves. Why? I still love me some dove hunting.
