Thanks Karl. As I've mentioned here before, it is my "Christmas", which is probably why Ted refers to it as "Grousmas". I'm a bit concerned about the longer-time frame up there being a detriment in other areas of my life (I may not want to leave!) but I am looking forward to the somewhat enforced isolation, the lack of the endless (bad) news cycle, and the long, deeply-consuming walks in the cathedral of the big forest up there. I've begun to plan meals and even other activities (other than hunting and fishing) for the inevitable rainy days that will surely come. Figuring on picking wild grapes, rose hips, and high-bush cranberries (if available) and trying my hand at making some of the traditional jams the former proprietor would make and supply. Also hoping to try out some waterfowl recipes that have languished long in the mostly-empty larder up there. It will be natural rhythms and a simpler life for an extended period and I'm looking forward to that in so-many ways.
