Well, maybe I'm a sucker but I couldn't help but see a diamond in the rough here. I stewed over it for a week or two and then pulled the trigger. Custom Remington 600 takedown in .35 Remington. It is very dated in it's styling, a-la Weatherby, but I think it is going to clean up quite well.


I am going to replace the maple with an ebony tip, and a steel grip cap, Slim the forend contour, cut down the cheekpiece angle and reshape the grip. I couldn't decide between a Neidner plate or an English red recoil pad... but the butt is narrower than the steel plates I have so English pad it is. I'll inlet Dakota swivel studs.
I am working on period correct removable scope mounts and have an excellent 2.5-8 scope for it.
