“The Art of London Firearms” is an exhibit on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City from now until January 29, 2020. It is worth a visit. I experience a sense of ironic pleasure from the fact that this aesthetic triumph of classic smoothbores is taking place right under the noses of Mayor Bill de Blasio, Governor Andrew Cuomo and Senator Chuck Schumer, the undisputed triumvirate of intellectual Neanderthals. As of now, not just in the Second Amendment of the Constitution, but, in Gotham’s pantheon of culture, vintage shooters stand our ground. As soon as I got home to my farm in New Jersey after visiting the exhibit at the Metropolitan, I fired both barrels of my G. Hemenway London hammergun in salute. Take that, Governor Murphy and Senator Booker, my own sorry Jersey politicos.

At the risk of being accused of tuba sua ludere, let me bring to your attention that there is an article about this Met exhibit in the May-June edition of SPORTS AFIELD (vol 242, #3, pgs 42-43). Check it out.
