"Robertson" Defeated "Bill Nye" in a Hundred Live Bird Match.
Cincinnati, Dec. 27. -Editor "Sporting Life":
A well contested match took place on the Cincinnati Gun Club grounds, December 22, between "Robert-son" (Max Fleischmann), vice president of the club, and "Bill Nye" (Joe Coyle, of Lexington, Ivy.) This was Robert-son's maiden match and he distinguished himself nobly, killing 91 out of the 100, losing six birds out of his last 90 and four of these were dead outside.
Nye shot a good race, but after the first quarter was unable to catch his opponent.
The birds were very fast, but not a particle of wind blew to help them and the weather was clear and moderate.
One hundred live birds, Interstate rules, for $100 a side, and loser pay for birds.
