cadet, your views on the evolution of our Supreme Court are unfortunately somewhat correct. But if you pay a bit closer attention, you will note one very important distinction. Only one side of our generally two Party Political system reliably and consistently calls for "Originalists" or "Textualists" who will interpret the law in accordance with the Constitution and the original Intent of the Framers. That would be the Republicans.

Originalists such as Scalia or Thomas are despised by Democrats... to the extent that they will pull out all stops to derail their confirmation, as they did with Robert Bork, Clarence Thomas, and now Brett Kavanaugh. False accusations and personal destruction are considered fair play.

Democrats, and most especially Liberal Left Democrats, have been increasingly attempting to morph the Federal and Supreme Courts into their Progressive vision where the Constitution is viewed as a "Living Document" than can be twisted and reinterpreted in a manner inconsistent with obvious Original Intent of the Framers.

King Brown, who once again dishonestly pretends to abhor political discussions here, has argued many times that our U.S. Constitution is a so-called "Living Document"... subject to the whims of various Courts in different Jurisdictions. If he denies this fact, I would be happy to QUOTE him on the matter! What he won't tell you is that it has been his beloved Liberal Left Socialists who have strayed furthest from Original Intent and the Constitution as written. And infringements upon the gun rights of law abiding citizens by Liberal Left Democrats and their Judicial appointees are a prime example of this. I already have noted how Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein vehemently opposed Kavanaugh because of his strong pro-2nd Amendment views.

In this way, Liberal Democrats are able to accomplish things, such as Roe v. Wade, or gun control, that Congress was unwilling or Democrats were unable to do legislatively. Abortion should be a States Rights issue, at very least. And to be fair, politicization of the Court may extend to some Conservative over-reach too, such as surveillance of Americans under the Patriot Act. While this had not been really abused, and had been directed mainly toward foreign terrorists, the potential for abuse was demonstrated by Democrats who used phony documents to petition the FISA Court to spy on President Trump's campaign.

A true sign of mental illness is any gun owner who would vote for an Anti-Gunner like Joe Biden.
