uh bill, some have suggested that lincoln's agenda for the first two years or so of the war was to create enough northern casualties, to cause the northern people to hate their southern brothers enough to pursue his unholy and unjust war...if so, it really explains why lincoln appointed so many inept generals to command his armies, until after vicksburg and gettysburg...by then, he had created enough hate and anger for revenge, that he put in his a team killers, with the likes of grant, sherman and sheridan in the lead...
