The first Americans on Safari were men like Teddy Roosevelt who carried a 1903 Springfield in 30-03 and a Winchester 95 in .405. Next was Stewart Edward White with a 1903 Springfield in .30-06. Of course both had big-bore double rifles for back-up and things like Elephant.
