Not even close. Try Cité Soleil in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where kidnapping, riot and murder are everyday happenings and the poorest people are literally eating mud to fill their bellies. Try Mauritania where you can watch children die of starvation.

The term 'Third World' disappeared from the international lexicon more than a decade ago, replaced by 'developing countries.' The word change didn't change the facts on the ground, of course, but it made the indigenous politicians more comfortable as their armored Mercedes limos navigated the unpaved roads. It could be, their heavily armed 'escorts' were loaded with Hydro-Shoks...
