It's strange that some of them have some very pretty and nicely figured wood and then some have the same figure of the pine 2x4 in my garage. My gun's closer to the 2x4, but I looked at some at the local Gander Mtn the other evening that had great looking wood. It's definitely better to have several in front of you to choose from.

I've had a 20 gauge Bobwhite since about April and have put at least 300 shells through it so far. I agree that I was very pleasantly surprised at its quality. The only trouble I've had with it was the circa 20 pound trigger pulls. On the first pair of birds I tried, I pulled the trigger and the gun didn't fire. I had not pulled the front trigger hard enough. I removed the hammers and sears and polished the approprite surfaces. The trigger pulls are still a little heavy at about 6 pounds, but are manageable. The gun shoots well and my sporting clays and skeet scores show it.

I know a quail guide/dog trainer in TX who has put some serious miles on a Bobwhite 28 without any problems.

I bought a Dehaan SO Model 12 Ga. about 5 or 6 years ago for informal clays shooting. I use my vintage guns at the VC and other SXS events but I needed something to leave in the trunk of my car so I could shoot after work whenever I had time. The Dehaan guns are made by the same folks who make the CZ guns. I did find the trigger pulls a little hard but after I pulled the stock and lubed the sear notches with a little space age lube the pulls eased considerably. I also polished the stock a little because they had knocked back the finish and I wanted it a little brighter. I've been shooting the gun regularly since and like it very much. It looks good and I receive many compliments. Quite a few people think its a Beretta.
At about 5,000 rounds the right firing pin needed to be replaced and at about 7,000 I went ahead and did the left before I had any problems. I could have sent it to Dehaan but it was faster to do it myself. I believe the problems with the trigger pulls and the firing pins have been corrected in newer guns.
I have lots of doubles and have been shooting SXS's for 35 years and I think these Turkish guns are a good guns and a bargain. Just so you know I have guns by most of the American makers and a few British guns as well. None of which I'd leave in the trunk of my car all summer.
I paid $650 for my Dehaan and I 've gotten my monies worth.

I was going to buy one of them plain ones (no faux plates), but was able to pick up minty Ugartechea 40 for couple hundred $ less. It's a better gun in every way too. One can tell it's stocked in plain Extramaduran walnut, but at least one can tell it's walnut and not some sapwood. PS. If you want to see nice Turkish? piece try one of them rounded action guns imported by S&W. If the wood was a bit fancier and it had more shaved off at the head of stock it would be equal to Galazan RBL. Those S&W imports do cost over 2k, but they do have the look of true upland sxs gun.

Stop with this eating crow concept. We would not want Lowell G. to start talking about them rook pies again.

Jim,Market, I have a ringneck 28ga, nice svelte gun, been beating it up thru the bush for the past 2 seasons, and shooting it at clays. So i am reporting zero malfunctions. Tons of broken clays, and alot of quail in my stomach and in my freezer. My opinion for the price the best 28ga out there.
