If anyone has books instructing disassembly of Ithaca NID or L.C. Smith shotguns, would you please post the titles and editions. I am looking to purchase, but the book sites don't tell what guns are included in the books their offering Thank-you greatly, Kurt

I have found the book Amateur gunsmithing by Mills and Barnes to be the best general book on how to dissemble doubles in general the LC is a bit more of a problem due to the spring acting on the top lever spindle. I can't remember where I saw the best discription of how to do it but after you do it a few times it is not too bad.

Gun Digest Book of FIREARMS ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY, Part V: Shotguns Second Edition has L. C. Smith double. Shows Elsie with roller forend latch and ejectors if that is desired. Photos of sequence are reasonably good and punches, compressors, third hands are called out as needed. You could do worse. Don't know on NID; went thru the NRA Assembly books, couldn't find it.

For the L.C. Smith Radocy's "L.C. Smith Double Takedown Guide", I believe for $4.99 is not bad. The pictures are pretty good and their description of takedown isn't bad.
On re-assembly there is a better way to allign the top lever spring into the trigger plate fit that they don't do. The big plus is you don't need two people.
They don't have the Ithaca, but I'm sure that Radocy does one.
You will see them on ebay for $7.99 and up, I got mine through Midway, the price went up to $5.99 now
