I just went to look at a Charles Daly Drilling that a guy has to sell. I think it's a 38-40 under 12 gauge barrels, looked like a nice gun with minimal engraving. The top barrels are laminated it also has a flip up peep sight on the tang that is recessed into the tang. All origional and in good condition. Just wondering what something like this is worth and who the actual maker is and anything else about it that can be provided.

Scott that's not much to go on. Any good hammerless drilling in a hunting sized caliber that isn't obsolete will bring at least $1600-$2000. A 38-40 isn't much good for big game hunting it's mostly a pistol round. Before you all jump in and say that it's killed many deer, so has a .22 long. If it's a 38-40 I'd drop the price down to $1000. JMHO

To my knowledge, it was Sauer that built Drillings for Daly. Look for a Sauer mark on the water table and barrels.It is very possible thatSchilling made the barrels. His mark may be on them.

Old hammer drillings are more interesting than hammerless, at least in these parts.
