Here is One I have never seen. Pull back striker like on some bolt actions But self contained. with brass action & barrel. Only Marking's are 124 on receiver, Barrel, & under trigger Guard.
Which I understand Should be basic line #'s. But I am calling this one OLD #124 as have no more Information
By the way has a steel chamber insert Oringan. If anybody knows anything will post more pictures

Looks like someone with great skills built a prototype rifle for themselves, or an attempt to sell his design to a gun maker. Very nicely done, and certainly not crude like some homemade guns were. The .38XL Ballard cartridge dates this rifle to likely late 1800's as I doubt after the turn of the century anyone was still chambering new guns in .38XL. Neat rifle.

That is an odd one for sure... I have had two Ballard rifles in 38XL but they didn't look anything like that...

William,
You can make cases from .357 Maximum, but they will be about 40 thousandths short, or you can make them from 5.6x50R cases trimmed to the proper length. The rim thickness might have to be adjusted. Looks like a fun rifle.
