I purchase a fair amount of odd firearms & this one has been my focus as of late. I've researched until the cows come home, but the closest I have found is some similarities to Dubiel. Finally unseated the stock & found some more markings, mainly standard milsurp stuff, but I am no expert. Just an interested newbie.

There are some unique identifying marks that may help an expert. Would really love to get a hold on who possibly built this. This rifle is a very central firearm to my wood stock collection & I couldn't be more excited for it. Including the knowledge I have learned since I eyeballed it.

Some markings I've noticed
-"1307011" on floor plate (I do not believe this is the S/N)
-'1977' electropenciled on bolt
-NS on top of Bolt Handle
-'G 138 P' on Barrel
-'S' on Trigger Group
-'BI E' on bottom of receiver
-6 or 9 beside of floor plate release

Some Odd things
-Brass bump behind trigger to limit over travel (i assume)
-'GERMANY' stamped butt plate

If you have any helpful information, links or books, shout them out. I've ordered The Modern Gunsmith by Howe (1&2) & borrowed SRS Vol. 4.

Thanks for the help on my first ever post here.

You have pointed me in several directions and I'm finding ALOT!
Went back to Mr. Petrov's post in '01 (https://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=197299) and found a Linden/Koshollek where the pistol grip cap is an exact match for this one.

I will say Mr. Petrov seemed to be a great researcher and knowledgeable as all hell. Appreciate the direction, I will look at some of my shops books tomorrow & see if we have any Linden books. I've got several new books on my watchlist as well. Waiting on 'The Modern Gunsmith' 1& 2 to be delivered this week.

Here's one that shows the rounded front checkering as well

It's a nice find these pre-war custom rifles are pretty rare, and ones that are attributable even more so

Others are thinking this and I will say this, Michael is dearly missed around here for many reasons and you mentioning his name only reinforces how important and valuable a sole he was. RIP

I spoke to a gentleman for about 45 minutes yesterday. He has a Linden listed on GI. He brought up Michael atleast a dozen times and told me I need to purchase his Vol 1 book (I have attempted to wait out 1 in an auction but may end up having to pay handsomely). He was definitely a knowledgeable person but beyond that his information comes up every single time I go searching for information and his name is attached to information other people use.

Hate I wasn't around here then but was a little too young then.

I think this recent thread will give you an idea of how highly others thought of Michael Petrov,

I have what I consider an early Jaeger sporter that has just Jaeger marked on the top of the barrel and it has the J in a circle on the bottom rear of the barrel. Of course, mine is an '03 Springfield and I believe the simple Jaeger marking is before he added the Jenkintown mark and maybe before he moved there.

Sorry, I had posted this on the wrong thread, see the Jaeger thread.
