Does anyone know if Redfield ever made a single piece scope mount for a 52?

Try asking at the RimFireCentral.com Winchester 52 subforum.

I found a chart that says they made a one piece Redfield Junior mount for the 52 Sporter and target, they are stamped 52

Didn’t Browning and Winchester have some Model 52’s made in the 90’s? I wonder if there are newer scope bases available.

Are you looking for one? If it's for the older receivers, there's a gunsmith down south that makes one that replaces the ladder sight, just tap it in, it uses Weaver rings and works well but is a bit high.

Tim, who is the gunsmith who makes a mount that goes in the ladder sight dovetail?

It was made by Randy Gray of Adairsville Armory, I don't know if the picture of mine will show, the image of the silver one was online. My mount is the same except it is a very dark flat gray. It's an easy, reversible way to scope an old 52. [/img] ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/BQfHeFc.jpeg)

I assume that you're talking about a 52 C Sporter? The only 52 target rifle drilled and tapped on the receiver rings was the so called 52E. The pre A, A, B, C and D target models were not normally drilled and tapped by the Winchester factory except on the barrel. The only Sporter drilled and tapped by Winchester was the C model. Winchester was always behind the ball on this and their target models languished in sales and was overtaken by Anschutz when Savage became their importer. When the new 52R's came out in the 80's and 90's, a different hole spacing was chosen over the original 52C's so that blocks fitting those rifles will not fit the earlier C models. As mentioned before, Redfield did make a base for the 52C Sporter but I think it is ugly because part of the base hangs over the front of the receiver ring. I've seen a few of those bases show up on GB and eBay from time to time.

I think at the time the Winchester 52's were considered a target rifle, and the vast majority that shot scoped used Target Scopes that would be too close to the shooter's eye with a receiver scope mount. So my thinking is Winchester didn't see enough demand for modern internal adjustment type scopes to offer their receivers D&T for a modern scope. I believe Remington did the same with the Model 37 Rangemaster rifles? My Model 37 is an old 1938 vintage with a Super Targetspot mounted on the barrel. Not sure if or when Remington may have added holes for a receiver mounted scope, if they ever did.
