I don't usually respond to political posts but My wife and I were married in St. John's church right across Lafayette Park from the White House where the service was held this morning 43 years ago. It is an Episcopal church but what is not well know is that it's also the church of the French Huguenots in Washington DC (Jean ((John)) Calvin = Presbyterians). There is a large and beautiful reception room behind the church where we sat alone for tea (There was only us to and the Pastor whose wife was French). The lectern is in the shape of an eagle. In a corridor to the left there is a bronze plaque with the names of all the Presidents who had Huguenot blood starting with George Washington. https://huguenotsociety.org/hugueno...ina-historical-society-prxgc-4p72d-t6pk8It's interesting that Louis XIV forced out the most productive members of French society in the late 17th century to America's benefit. In 1685 Louis XIV enacted the Edict of Fontainebleau, which replaced the Edict of St. Germain and made Protestantism illegal. More bloodshed ensued, and over the next several years, more than 200,000 Huguenots fled France for other countries.

Gene;
Thank you for comments especially that George Washington had French Hugenot ancestry.
We have a great deal to thank our French Hugenot ancestors. Many came to Virginia and South Carolina. One of the most famous of the descendants of the French Hugenot's here in South Carolina was Francis Marion the "Swamp Fox".
My wife's French Hugenot ancestor arrived in Jamestown, Virginia.
Kind Regards; Stephen Howell

It's a positively Glorious Day for America! ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/bN5mYPc5/VJ-Day-Kiss.jpg) I chose to withhold comment until it was certain the 4 year National Nightmare was officially over. All morning, I thought of the iconic image above, and felt this was much more than the usual change of leadership and a transfer of power. It seemed more like the country and the world must have felt on V J Day, 8/14/1945, to know a costly and brutal World War had finally ended. Donald Trump confirmed that in his Inaugural Address, where he minced no words with his predecessor mere feet behind him. There was no phony civility. It was a harsh recounting of the damage done, and a solemn vow to reverse the 4 years of criminal damage done by the cabal that was using the puppet Biden to fundamentally destroy our founding principles. This was actually confirmed minutes earlier, as Trump was being sworn in, and the announcement popped up that Biden had added to the last day pardons of Dr. Fauci, Gen. Milley, Liz Cheney, and the entire Jan. 6th Committee, and made last minute pardons of several members of his own crime family. That should be ample proof to anyone with a brain that we were governed for the last 4 years by a criminal enterprise, intent on doing great harm to our nation, enriching themselves at our expense, and even facilitating a foreign invasion at taxpayer expense. I never thought any administration could do so much damage in only 4 years. Damage that extensive won't be fixed overnight, and it will be very costly. Now we need to stand behind our new President to help him get the job done. We must not relax and take our eye off the ball, and allow the anti-gun and anti-American Democrats to stymie him, or take the House in 2026. We need to support Trump like never before. We must never let the pendulum swing back anywhere close to where it was... or this wonderful moment will be in vain.
The"Big Tent" of Gun owners is a Big Fraud... to give cover to fools who vote for Anti-gunners.

Before the current federal holiday is over may I quote the namesake and say "Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty we're free at last."
Y'all know what I mean. 😉
May God bless America and those who defend her.

James, Graffiti on a monument in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi: [url=https://ibb.co/LP2Pxjj] ![[Linked Image from i.ibb.co]](https://i.ibb.co/H2k2tww/IMG-0608.jpg) [/url It is aimed squarely at Brussels, by Georgians who have no desire to be the next Ukraine. The masses are fed up with the everlasting wars, and the prosperity siphoning effect of globalism. The many false promises of the various “isms” are well documented. Yet, they persist. The stupid, criminal, and corrupt are never far from the voting booth. Kamala got 74 million votes. Some of those voters are right here. You can vote your way into socialism, but, you have to shoot your way out. Eastern Europeans, unlike our own idiots, comprehend this well. Best, Ted

Best, Ted Prosperity creates a strange, self-destructive corrupting effect on people. If you live in a prosperous country, you learn self-loathing. Intellectualism, unmoors itself from reality and becomes stupidity. Progressivism may be the worst ism. It ignores the reality that almost everything can only progress to a certain point, after that you're regressing. Whatever else anyone wants to say about Trump, I think he understands that. Here is an interesting read from 60 years ago. God help us. https://www.wordandwork.org/2018/02/paul-harveys-if-i-were-the-devil-transcript-from-1965/
