Here are pictures of my shell trimmer(for plastic shells). It spins in a lathe and length is determined by the length of the plastic shaft. It was made specifically for Federal plastics. Does not cut paper shells, tears them. My paper shell trimmer uses a blade from a copper tubing cutter and was made from a picture of one Lyman made, years ago. If this works, I'll add a picture of that one.
Thank you

Jim, your paper hull cutter looks like the answer. I have a Ballistic Products hull cutter that is slow, as I have to hook out each cut off piece with a dental pick. That's so slick you should go into production, you can put serial number 1 on mine!

I made the one I mentioned earlier from Jim's picture #1. Good job on the pictures, Jim. I used a dowel and instead of using a screw I used fabric tape to hold the blade. It is still working after 1,000 hulls. I do it by hand, not in a lathe but it is so easy that no mechanical device is needed. I use it for plastic shells only.

I use the BP product in the experimental stage; it does a superb, but tedious, job of helping determine the exact length I need.

Then I switch to the hi-tech production model on the right.

The BP works better for me if I do a "turn and chop" turn the hull let it raise the blade then cut again...if you hold the cutter down and twist the hull that's when you run into problems.
