Here's a wild-ass guess at what you're asking: Decent piece of American or better, English(French, Circassian,) - $700-$1000. Never skimp on wood when doing a restock. Stocking and checkering by a really capable wood man - $2000
Others here may have a better estimate. JR A really capable wood man would be better off doing almost anything else. High school kids doing low skill jobs make that much per hour. Ok, but tell us what you would charge. Thanks. JR

Unless you are looking for a custom fitted stock, I would look on ebay and guns international for a used original Browning super stock. They seem to be out there fairly commonly. The one problem you might have with buying wood off of eBay or some other internet website- how are you going to know if the wood is or is not salt wood? That is what I would be afraid of.

A smart guy would test it with silver nitrate: https://www.tis-gdv.de/tis_e/misc/silber-htm/Best, Ted

Donnie Gemme--Show-Me-Gunstocks is the man to go to for superposed restocks. He's done hundreds of them and always has a good selection of blanks in stock. Buy the blank from him and have him do the work. He's not cheap & has a major backlog but he does excellent work and is worth the wait and money.

99 out of 100 stocks sold on ebay or anywhere else are short tang stocks and most are from the salt era. A good long tang stock is very scarce on the used stock market.

Nobody. No bargains. You have got Arts, but he sends it out. Not sure about Midwest, I think they do in house. Basically the labor is the same whether they are doing a grade 1 or a midas grade. Somewhat. With the exception of the wood. Most are very backed up. A few others can do it but all the same.
John Boyd Quality Arms Arrieta You're saying that Art's doesn't do his own work? Or just on wood restoration?

The ebay stock is not for an "old" super, and the serial number is hard to read but it may be from the peak of the salt wood era. Also it may well be from a trap model gun with not much drop. I am pretty certain the Art does not do stocks and sends them out. At one time I read he sends them to Show-Me stocks, but not certain about this. If you want to duplicate the existing stock, the better pantographs will come very close, leaving only minor fitting, finishing and checkering. Still probably in the $2000 range.

A Superposed buttstock and forend are like all hand-fitted gun furniture in that there are small variances with each one. You would be hard-pressed to find the correct configuration buttstock and matching forend that would be an exact fit, but actually finding the pair at all will be very difficult. JR
