I’m the proud owner of a newly procured g33/40 Ottmar rifle in 7mm Mauser - thank you Easter Bunny!
Here’s my question - the gun obviously by looks has an Ottmar stock, and this is confirmed by the owner’s wife and a letter from Ottmar I have been provided with where the rifle is referenced in the context of being able to do a second “stock” for the owner. Owner had Ottmar do two rifles - this was the first. The stock comment is what I’m curios about. The rifle barrel is unsigned on the barrel by Ottmar but has exceptional quality metal work - Blackburn bottom metal.
Here’s my question - is this a total Ottmar rifle or just a stock - would he have sold an unsigned rifle? If he didn’t do the metal work, any idea who likely did?
Either way I’m still ecstatic! Finest rifle I have - or will ever own!
