As I do I ask here for advice. Is there a method to repair a very small nick in the barrel metal. The photo shows a very small, as in 1.1mm, nick to my 1949 Ithaca 4E SBT barrel. Do not know how it was inflicted. Suspect is the knurled end of a choke tube ??

How can I go about a repair with bluing to this spot, or do I leave it as is. I know that otc bluing solutions are likely to just make a bigger, more obvious blemish. Your help appreciated.

Much enlarged nick.

LetFly,
Oxpho-Blue, cold blue, applied by the instructions, is as good as anything I have tried for small nicks like this. It is available from Brownells.

I agree. It probably won't go away completely, but will look much less obvious. I used some today on a rib extension on a double, where the top of the rib extension was worn through the bluing. Helped a lot.

May God bless America and those who defend her.
