I tried to do a deal with our friend Felix a good number of years ago on a beautiful Novotny 16 gauge. The deal floundered on the exporting issue.

At the time I was able to get guns out of France to Canada with the acquisition of a simple, minimal cost form from each of the two governments that were essentially saying in the eyes of the Canadian government I was authorized to receive said firearm. I would then have the gun dropped in the mail. 6-8 days later it would be available for pick up at my local PO upon payment of duty and taxes due. The transport and document fees were always less than $100. Sometime in the second half of the last decade, the EU discovered this travesty and quickly put an end to it.

That is a damn fine gun. I wish you would’ve bought it. Hell, I wish my friend would’ve bought it so I could’ve gotten inside of it to see what kind of action this beauty was built on!!!! Spectacular gun, top notch all the way around. Someone got themselves a hell of a shotgun.

You are 1000% correct. I would guess it is from the late 19 Century and a TRUE composed Continental Gun with efforts from the Best of gunmaking centres. Ah, I am just so busy with The Mortal Coil and I was waiting on your sidekick to make a move or get of the pot & I let it slip away but mere days......

Raimey, regarding the Nowotny….what type of ejector work do you think it’s fitted up with? Looking at the pics of the forend iron….its a system I don’t think I’m very familiar with. Do you think the gun is built on a trigger plate action? I don’t see axle pins for Sears and tumblers..
