Salut Argo,

It clearly shows 4 stars stamped. I got it from the original owner for whom it was made for as gift from thier father. They couldn’t remember the name of the maker.

Ok we need to add and/or alter these two terms:

Re Marche and Marcheur:

. .Marche (f) - Cocking and extracting/ejecting mechanism?
. . . . .Comment: La marche d'un fusil est composée de pièces qui se mettent en mouvement quand tu ouvres le fusil. ("La marche" of a gun is composed of pieces which move when you open the gun.)
. .Marcheur (m) - Barrel cocking and extraction/ejection fabricator?

Re Bascule and Basculeur:

I had Bascule:
. .Bascule (f) - receiver/action
. . . . .Bascule ronde - round receiver

And Basuleur:
. .Basculeur (m) - Action filer; Action maker

However Basculeur per Fab and Larry is:
. .Basculeur (m) - Joiner or barrel joiner. (Le basculeur est la personne qui monte les canons sur la bascule.)

Could we come to a consensus on this before I add it to the dictionary? (Fab is the expert - I'm just looking for a good English word to use):

triple proofed 20 gauge with 73mm (?) chambers, based on what appears to be a fairly typical stephanois "propeller" (helice?) mechanism....and action clearly stated as sourced from st. ettienne. history says, company origin in 1932, patented in 1935, built in various conformations, box lock, false side plates, and actual h & h side locks - which the subject gun appears to be. 4 stars would indicate one step below the best grade....and obviously a very nice gun. fab's documents state that the 16 gauge gun with 73mm chambers began "around 1972" - would that be a reference point for the age of the subject gun?

photos are not clear enough to be certain, but i would guess the case colors are cyanide.

i, for one, would love to see a photo or two of the whole gun - to see the stock and general configuration....and learn it's weight and other such information.

best regards,
tom
