Happy to help gentlemen, but this is all old data.

Pre-pandemic I shot cases of the Kent Elite (made in USA) 12g 2 1/2" 3/4 oz. load, which I can't find anywhere now frown

This might be worth a try

Brent if you check the Alliant and Hodgdon website you can find 1 1/4 oz loads that are really close to the RST load with 572,Longshot, Blue Dot and Herco . Unique is also good but not quite as low. Federal Gold Medal hulls and Cheddite style hulls are the way to go. Lots of wad and primer choices.

I use Blue Dot and Longshot but I don't think my loads go quite that low. Part of my problem is using WinAA hulls and wads. Straight wall hulls seem to average a bit lower pressure in comparable loads.

The RST loads were looking almost like SRn7625, which I really like but is no longe made. I have about 2-3# left however.

like doc drew says...

if we're trying to lower recoil or use 2 3/4" shells in short chambers - find a 7/8 oz. load at 1200 fps or less and stop worrying smile...

agree, plus one ounce loads going out at 1200 fps or less should be safe as well...

also, if your gunsmith agrees, have him open those chambers to 2 3/4 and keep smilin...

keep it simple and keep it safe...

Drew,

If that is a British cartridge they might be referring to the Observed Velocity ( over 20 yards).

As the Chrony is not specked with shot I take it that the reading is muzzle velocity.

You are correct, muzzle vs 20 yds.
