$1350 OBO. Real nice, all original Savage Fox SW 16b, 28” NE, perfect bores, DT’s, M-F, 14 3/8” to original buttplate to front trigger. Ship to FFL, shipping cost depends on destination. Some CC. Action is super smooth. Email for photos (I don’t know how on this website) if interested. william.mcturnan@gmail.com. Should it sell here, Dave will get his share.

I know I suck at photos. Nevertheless, this gun is nice at 6 lb 6 Oz, hasn’t been shot much, closes like a bank vault, all original and would make a good pheasant gun for someone for not a ton of money. If I didn’t have so many, I’d keep this gun……but alas, trying to thin the herd. It has 2 1/2” drop at heel which is too much to suit me.

Will you tOte the note ? yeah, you are likely right. This is probably the worst place in the world to try and sell this nice gun. You rarely see guns sell on this website. I’ve often thought Ed and some others are wasting their time trying to sell here. I’m probably wasting mine too. I’ll list it elsewhere after I take some better photos.

I forgot to mention and have been asked, but this gun has factory 2 3/4” chambers. It’s in remarkably good shape given it’s vintage age.

Fox Aficianados:
Unrelated (almost)....
I came across a Sterlingworth vintage Fox in 16 ga. just yesterday in a local shop. The gun I saw had the top level moderately to the left, whereas the one being sold here is well to the right.
Someone once told me that a classic Fox with the lever to the left is no issue, due to some arcane detail of engineering I didn't retain in my head.
Is this true?

I’m no gunsmith, but here goes. These Fox guns have only a top fastener to keep the gun closed (I.e., there are no underbites). There is a hook on the top lever (rotary bolt) that engages as the bite to the top fastener. So, the gun I have for sale has not been used much and hence the top lever is to the right, and the gun you describe has been likely shot a lot so the top lever is to the left because the bite is worn. The problem lies in whether or not there is a gap on the bearing surfaces. If so, there is enormous stress on the fastening system and it can break. This information is all in ‘Shotgun Technicana’. A skilled gunsmith could set the gun right while making sure the gun is not off face. So, to answer your question, there may be an issue with that particular gun.

If I hadn’t bought a very similar 16 ga, though an Philly era SW last year, I’d buy it. I absolutely love mine, I’ve killed two limits of wild pheasants and a bunch of ducks in five days of hunting this season with it.

Do not know the seller, but this is a fair price. The fact that it has factory 2 3/4" chambers is a big plus right now. I see folks extending the chambers on Foxes left and right because RST isn't making ammo and they don't want to roll their own. I bought a 20 gauge Sterly in slightly better condition for $500 more then this one is being sold for only because it was a late Savage gun with 2 3/4" chambers so I could shoot off the shelf ammo. Anyway, this is was a good deal given the market for small bore Foxes is up there and I don't see it dropping soon.
