Not a great choice of wood for a Daly IMHO. Looks a little too black walnut-ish.

It has to be in the 2nd Series post 1891/1892. Too, that square crossbolt may put it in the 2nd series.

rse Would be nice to see the markings but I suspect you are correct. I don't think a 1st series gun with a serial number that low is going to look like that. Ugh, went back and looked at it again and just found more stuff i didn't like about the restock.

I don't think you have to go past the alignment of the cheek checkering on the right versus the left side of the stock to recognize the quality there.

Stock would have to be replaced but the action is very sleek looking, the barrel height is more than the action below them.
I need a 16ga with 28-30” barrels about 6.5 lbs in 185 or better. Fluid steel barrels. Then I could trade some guns for a 1 year old trained gsp. Very few people would see me again after that but what fun!

You are right about having to replace that stock. I couldn’t live with it. Which makes the asking a bit steep. I have two 7.5 pound Dalys right now…..that’s probably enough.  I bagged a 12 gauge Diamond at 6.5 pounds with 28” barrels and now I’m looking for a 16 closer to 6 pounds with 28” or longer barrels. My 20 is around 5.5 pounds and that’s light enough. Would be nice to have a 20 with 28” barrels but I won’t be paying for that. Lol.

I love the hidden gems aspect of Germanic guns. So many under the radar quality guns.
A few years ago I tried hard to snag an Ernst Steigleder 16 ga with 31” barrels. Absolutely needed a new stock and the seller wouldn’t listen to reason and I had poured enough money down rabbit holes by that point I wasn’t going to underwrite the repairs entirely with no hope of return. But it was a beautiful gun.
