It is remarkable how many you miss over the top.
(You see their back feathers rise as the shot swarm blows past above them, and they never miss a beat)

It is really bad for swing through shooters at the longer distances.
A gun that shoots 40/60 (gasp!) can be very useful on the moor.

The opposite with ethical boat hunters who down the nearest bird with the more open barrel and reserve the tighter barrel to immediately swat the downed duck before it dives or swims away with only the head visible in the waves.
