There is some cachet that goes with the Sweet version of the 16, no doubt, but, the Standard weight 16, discontinued in 1964, is worth considering as well. I have a 25” IC choked Standard that weighs 6lbs, 14 ozs, less than quite a few Sweets I’ve handled with longer barrels or ribs of either variety. Finding a Sweet 16 barrel, and putting it on a Standard nets you “half as Sweet” as the barrels usually fit.

Good luck with the search.

Best,
Ted

Nice. I’ll see your image and raise it one barrel:

1956 Standard 16, 25”IC factory barrel, used pretty hard by someone who cared about it, and 1971 Sweet 16 27” matted barrel with a full choke. A brother from another mother gave me the Sweet barrel. Still pondering opening it to MOD, tubes, etc.

Best,
Ted

This one weighs 6lbs 10 oz
I've been told that all the 20's were the same and the name was pretty much just marketing.
Wood density, barrel length and rib presence were all weight factors .

I still have one Browning A5, a little 20 bore made 1965 and New in the Box. Bought it over thirty years ago from a collector. I used to collect Belgium A5 guns. I once had twenty mostly 60's guns. Sold all but this one.
