I’m going to be spending 5-6 days in each city in the next few weeks. Are there any gun shops worth seeking out in either city?

SLC has Gallensons. It’s nothing special. Usually the only thing vintage in there are the occasional old pump guns. SLC isn’t a hotbed for cool doubleguns. http://gallensonsguns.com/

In Denver, MW Reynolds is still worth seeing but the gun selections aren't what they used to be. Mountain Guns in Conifer is also worth seeing. Outdoorsman's Attic has a fair selection of everything, including guns. Lots of other gunshops but it's all hit or miss anymore, including the big boxes (Cabelas, Bass Pro, Sportsman's Warehouse, etc.).

It could always be a disappointment, but I wouldn't be opposed to driving a little bit if a gun show coincides with the visit.

Assuming you find gun shops to peruse, here in the states, is it possible for a Canadian to do anything more than window shop? Could you purchase a gun, here, as a foreign citizen, and make your way back to Canada?
As a licensed importer, I couldn’t do that in Europe, and bring something home.
Best, Ted

Denver: the firing line green mountain guns the gun room
Boulder: gunsport colorado
All of the above have interesting guns, usually some doubles in stock but none focus on them.

Thanks all. I see there is a gun show in the Salt Lake City area first weekend in April. I think I just may have the time and schedule to drop in.
