I was recently looking at a vintage British shotgun that had replacement barrels branded HARRY HILL OF JESSE HILL, ASH TREE RD, STIRCHLEY, B'HAM. I had never heard of this Birmingham gunmaker, so I had a Google and found the following article by Vic Venters on the Westley Richards website. I thought it was quite interesting. Apparently still in business under "The Last Hill. A gunmaker stepping back in time."

Tim,

Two very enjoyable articles. The color photographs of his workshop are nice, a long step back to the 19th century.

Thanks Roy.

I found the Jesse Hill Gunmaker family also mentioned in ‘The House of Churchill’ by Don Masters, pgs. 133, 134, 243 and 244.

Thanks for the article links. Gratifying (and a touch sad).
