I've never seen anything like them. They are 12ga. The only thing I can think is they may be some sort of spreader. Anyone know about them?

Lage uniwad made to crush to hold a variety of load sizes. I have never used them but older guys said they worked? Hopefully someone that has used them will chime in.

Sherman Bell used the wad in making up low pressure bismuth loads. The data was published in the DGJ quite awhile ago. There is a market for them on eBay.

I used them for making shortened 12 gauge 12 gauge loads. At that time we used the loads in shooting contests. A 3 inch MDL 12 would hol d an extra 2 shells. This was the winning margin quite often. Today I would be making loads for my Brit SLE.

I used some of them in ancient Reliance 'Red Head' and Winchester 'Ranger' paper 12 ga. hulls this past summer in some skeet events, purely for the fun of it. They still work just fine, and saved me the trouble of having to find a one piece wad that would give me the exact required stack height for a good crimp. I actually had three different base wad heights in an assortment of old paper hulls. In some ways, I wish they were still available. It was fun telling some of the shooters that the hulls I was using were older than they were and some of the trap kids kept some of those empties, just because. I have enough of those Lage Uniwads left for perhaps another few boxes of 12 ga 28 gram cartridges. I wouldn't mind having more of them.

It solved a problem of the times. Consider it a transitional product.
This was before Claybuster and BPI had plastic wads available for just about any purpose.
The 'big 3' sold plastic wads to duplicate their factory loadings but that was about all.
Clever. They did have a following just like the old PC post wads.

I still have several thousand of the old PC post spreader wads. They worked well.
