Could you pleasure us with a few pics of the flats and the area ahead of the flats towards the forend hanger in order that we may see the marks in their entirety? So we can see their location?

Well, it must be numero uno then, but for whom? I'll have to re-read to see what might have been transpiring in 1897?

Simply facinating that it wears the number 1(one). Will have to ponder on that a bit longer.

And another picture showing "1" stamped on the components:

Raimey, you asked if the locks are stepped. Can you explain what you mean by stepped? Is that a profile or is it a function? Here is a side view of the locks.

Once again, I deeply appreciate all of the info!

It is a profile & common among Bohemian makers for a time.

>>875 . 15'5 . 15'2 . 97.<<

Nr. 875 with one tube having a diameter of 15.6mm and the other being 15.2mm in 1897.

Typically, if an inland sourced longarm, the tube diameters of the same bore are shown as one diameter as below.

>>1922 . 25 . 15.5<<

Carl Goulch in Linz example passed thru an Austro-Hungarian proof facility in 1925.

So I really don't have this difference sorted unless the two tube diameters are within some tolerance and be considered one in the same in the preliminary datastring?
