Willie,
According to "The House Of Churchill" by Don Masters, 1961 as the serial numbers allocated were 1961 #7,515 and 1962 #7,699. The list price at the time would have been L600-700 pounds. The engraving would most likely have been done by either C. M. Crick or Geoff Casbard, with locks by Chilton. They worked for Churchill 1958- 1980.
Hope this helps,
Karl

Thanks Karl.

I need to get a copy of Masters book. I realize 25 1/2 inch barrels are not popular these days, but I grew up with them. The balance of this gun really feels good to me and is stocked just right.

Besides, it is death on a covey rise of Bobwhites.

Will,
I believe that handling is all about balance and muscle memory, it works for me!

I expect more than a few people here miss it, but the home page has a link to high grade shotgun dates of production. Scroll down to "Other Useful Information", click on it, and proceed from there. Not all makes are included, but Churchill is.

I have 7542. It is a Regal BLE, with original 30" bbls w/Churchill rib, splinter fore end and 3" proofs. I call it my pigeon gun. Kirk Merrington said it was a duck gun in that configuration. Heck, Kirk worked at Churchill, so now it's my Churchill duck gun.
7542 went back to Churchill in the 80's for a 2nd set of 25" bbls with a big beaver tail fore end and 3" proofs on the short barrels. I'm not sure what in the world you'd shoot a 3" 12 at from a 25" gun.
But hey, it's cool. Is your gun proofed for 2 3/4", 3" or 2 1/2"

All Best,

Joe in Charlotte

2 3/4. Proofed for 3 1/4. Two barrel set. Both 25 1/2”.

I reload 1150fps 3/4 oz loads to shoot in it.

When I got the gun in a trade the mod/full barrel wouldn’t fit on the gun so I sent it to Merrington. Just needed ejectors removed and a good cleaning.

Kirk is a top notch guy as far as I can tell.

Since mine was made in 1911, it wears 2 1/2" cambers, proofed for 3. RST shells work very well for me in it. Thank goodness for RST!
