I have seen 22 HP mentioned here and on gunbroker. Does this refer to 22WMR?

No, it refers to the 22 Savage Highpower known in Europe as the 5.6x52R, It is based on the 30-30 type case and uses a .227-.228 bullet instead of the more common .224 bullet. It is commercially loaded with a 70gr bullet and is suitable for medium game. I load it with a 55gr .228 softpoint bullet and use it for coyote hunting.
It was introduced in the Savage 99 and gained popularity in Europe in stalking rifles, combination guns and drillings, Mine is a combo gun in 12ga/5.6x52R
The 22 WMR is also known as the 22 Magnum the HP tagged on the end of either of these would designate that it is loaded with a HOLLOW POINT bullet.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Please note the velocity listed in the Zander ad for 22 HP 70 gr. is incorrect, it is shown as 872 FPS, it is actually more like 872 MPS( I guess it doesn't make much difference, it was a clearance sale and they are out of stock). Mike

Thanks for the info. I am familiar with the 22 WMR but I saw one listing on a website for a combo gun with 20 gauge and 22 HP and in the same description it called it the 22 magnum. Thanks for the clarification. BTW, is the round still available in the US?

I don't think the .22 HP is made in the US, but ammo is imported from Europe. The HP, a rimmed cartridge, is much more popular in Europe than in the US. Some S&B ammo is available on Gunbroker, and it is also made by Norma and RWS.
