When tossing Brenneke formed lead down range out of Combos & Drillings is it best to see how slugs group thru a pattern effort & then just allow for that when hunting @ distance? I am testing both 12 & 20 bore platforms with Brenneke's KO(3/4 oz-20 Bore), Brenneke's Heavy Field Short Magnum & Brenneke's Classic Magnum.

Raimey,

you should shoot with open sights at 50m. Allow the barrel to cool properly after each shot. This way you make 5 shots. The scattering circle should remain under 10 cm. Brennecke guarantees this in the so-called "Langenhagener Norm". 4-5cm are good values!

The Langenhagen standard states that for appropriate hunting, the scattering circle with the "BRENNEKE" must not exceed 10 centimeters with five shots at 50 meters - even with combined barrels (coasters). With Drillings, the total scattering circle of all three barrels should not exceed 15 centimeters.

Try many different brands until you get the best results.

Cheers,
Wolfgang

Many thanks for the insight & IF, IF I can get enough cartridges, I will test the Brenneke guarantee. So a 9cm diameter/grouping for the >>Langenhagener Norm<< is acceptable.

that's what Brenneke says:

To take advantage of the precision of a shotgun slug, you also need appropriate sights.

Up to 30 meters, a shot via rail and bead sight is still justifiable.
Up to 50 meters, a driven hunt sight with a red dot should be the best choice.
At more than 50 meters, a telescopic sight is required for clean, fair game hits.

I really like open sights. There's not a whole lot of difference between 35 metres and 50 metres.

In the U.S. of A. we refer to this as >>Iron Sights<<

Of course, the accuracy over open sights differs from shooter to shooter

thanks, that was translation by AI...
