Did Greener make a Paradox rifling gun? If so, would it be disclosed on the barrel flats? I've been contacted by a man with a 12 ga. F/XF as patterned and noticed that the last 2.5 inches have rifling in the barrels. Gil

Depending upon the time frame, paradox guns often carry the "R Choke" proof mark and sometimes a cordite charge as well as bullet weight.

I have not seen a Fosbery choked gun built by Greener myself but many makers made them after the patent expired, I owned a beautiful William Evans Super Magnum Paradox made for the Maharaja of Khota for a time.

Pics of the flats and chokes would help.

I have a William Evans 12 ga. hammer gun with a second set of "Paradox" barrels. I don't think it was an uncommon practice at the time.

I have a 12 bore Jeffery Invincible boxlock from 1931 with leaf sights for 50 and 100 yards. It has 32" barrels, 3.25" chambers, and according to the records was originally choked 3/4 and full; someone before me opened up the chokes to 1/4 and 1/2, so any rifling that might have been there was removed. I can't make out some words in the record book, but it says "leaf sights for lethal(?) ball, *illegible* bbl".

I am also in communication with a gentleman who has purchased a Greener with paradox style rifling in both muzzles. He has contacted Graham Greener and found that Greener did not put the rifling there, at the initial build or at any later date. He has also done some patterning and found that the patterns are more open than he wants for turkey hunting. The seller did not know about the rifling, according to the buyer. It was bought from a very small country gunshop, and they have offered to take it back or trade it on another vintage double. It is yet to be determined if the buyer will keep the gun or return it in trade for another more suitable turkey gun.

Likely the same gentleman, Gil.
