My uncle, in his role as Premier of Manitoba, met him a number of times while the royals were on official visits to Canada and had only good things to say about Philip and Elizabeth. I have an aunt that uncle's sister) who lived in England, who also met them a number of times as her husband was CEO (Managing Director) of British Leyland. Again, very positive remarks.

On the other hand, the younger brother of a very close friend of mine was Prince Andrew's roommate when Andrew spent a year at a boarding school in Canada. Not such positive remarks.

I guess they are like most families.....some good eggs and some not so good.

“Prince Philip leaves heirs who will continue his traditions of love of the outdoors and outspokenness.”

I’ve appreciated that and much more about him and am grateful that this last statement is true.

(Field Sports’ following it with a picture of Prince Harry, his rifle and his buff may not be an accurate example, though. Even though Harry once said he aspired to be a PH it seems I read last year that he sold his guns in deference to his new wife who is reported to not like hunting and prefers a “plant based diet.”)

On three occasions I met and had discussions with Prince Philip, and I was impressed each time.

Royals true, but people of utmost class and character, The Queen and Prince. God Bless Queen Elizabeth. She would have lived as nobly if she had been a commoner.

The Queen's and Prince's service during WW2 is very much deserving of admiration. Their service to their country during the 3/4 century since the war has set the example for all world leaders. Rest in peace Prince Phillip, Good and Loyal Servant.

I am probably wrong on this, but I've always seen prince Phillip as the leader of GB royalty, instead of the Queen. Traditional family image I suppose. I'm pretty sure I am right though that his personal strength and dignity set the tone for the family notwithstanding who wore the crown...Geo

I look at it more like this George.

.

He had nothing, he hooked the big fish, he was smart enough to keep his mouth shut for the next 75 years.

Out there doing it best I can.

Clapper Zapper,
He was Greek Royalty in his own right. Also, any man that stays married to the same woman for 75 years learns to keep his mouth shut.
