I have a 1958 era A-5 Light 12-- I'd like to replace the std. magazine cap with the series having the swiveling QD sling clip attaching feature- any good ideas where to find one- used is ok-if the threads are not boogered-- Also, a friend has one like mine, and he claims the design and metallurgy is sufficient that he has fired 3" shells in his without any firing or functioning issues?? Comments?? RWTF

Comments? Yeah sure, DO NOT under any crurcumstances attempt shooting 3" shells in that gun or any gun chambered for 2&3/4" cartridges. Ebay has 25 or so magazine caps listed for the A%, many of which have the sling stud installed already.

Fox just get a sling with loops on each end.
Wonder why Dave didn't destruct this thread ?
The old 2&3/4" A5 probably wouldn't self destruct with a 3.5" magnum but no one of sound mind would shoot one in it....if it survived it would not prove a thing except that it survived once.

Thanks- should have thought about good old EX-LAX-BAY. Problem is- those schmucks want either a credit card, or a Pal-Pay thingy-neither of which I care to use- I prefer CIF or a USPS Money Order-less room for fraud- Now as to the M12 issue- In the 1938 Salesman's WRA Catalog- they mentioned that one can send a std. 12 ga. Model 12 back to the factory to be re-chambered for a 3 inch long shell-I'm a bit curious as to whether anyone ever had that done. The fact that the WRA designers felt their std. M12 would "stand the gaff"- back then is belied by the proof load tests their great M21 withstood circa 1930. As I have 2 12 bores that will handle 3" Magnum loads One is a 1940 M12 Heavy Duck, the other ain't) I am not going to try a 3" load in my Light12 A-5 (like, like a M-1 Garand is light)-- just wonderin' is all. oR, WHY NOT--?? Like to see the design prints for both nthe Belgian A-5 Light 12 and the 3" magnum version- looking for differences in barrel NBD's, and also wall thickness-s of the receivers, difference in recoil springs, etc. Just to learn- NO way would I fire a longer than chamber length shell in any shotgun--RWTF

So, I take it you may have tried 3" hulls in your A-5 at some point in time? RWTF

Few, if any questions are stupid (Think Forrest Gump_ Joseph-- I was more interested in the theory, and as metallurgy, along with fine art and classical music is something that intrigues me,I wondered if there was more to the machining of the chamber and receiver (longer ejection port-that is a "given"-- but I see I am no longer considered "cool" in your semi-esteemed viewpoint- alas and alack-- c'est la vie mon ami-- Foxie
