I haven't shot or even seen one. Can you tell us more? Thanks for making some really interesting posts recently, it has been really informative. Where are the pics from?

I own Bacon gun #324 but I consider it too frail to shoot.I treat mine as strictly a collectors piece. In 1998 Christies sold two bacon guns #56 & 184 these were sold as black powder proof, which means they were in proof and safe to shoot with the appropriate loads. [ex: Yannaghas collection.] Recommend you have your gun inspected by a competent gunsmith prior to considering firing. The British Shotgun Vol, 1, by David Baker, contains an excellent write up on the Bacon shotgun.

I have looked at the photos and description of gun #334,The barrel dimensions on this gun are,if as described satisfactory. But it dose sound as though a thorough inspection of the gun and some restoration would be required prior to considering shooting same. The barrels on my gun are shot-out,but it has has a higher degree of finish an is nicely engraved in the Rigby style. According to records of the day Rigby did market some Bacons guns.
