Seems like I see tons of older German shotguns with sling mounts but the slings are never there. Curious as to why. Do they just deteriorate too fast? Or maybe they didn't come with gun when new? I see lots of rifles such as Swiss k11/k31 etc that come with original slings.

Just the product life of the sling. Too, as a War Trophy, generally Americans didn't cotton to a sling.

Mike 325,
It's like a scope , slings don't come on new shotguns so you can buy whatever you want, not what someone else wants you to have.

That makes sense to me. Whenever I think of European shotguns on a sling, I think about the coerleone family in the Godfather movies. When they went back to Sicily to hide out the bodyguards with black vests always had shotguns (I think) with slings on their shoulders.

That makes sense to me also. I used to have a thin m1 garande style one on a gun as a kid and that thing always ate into my shoulder. I hated that darn thing.

The American way pertaining to a War Trophy is to remove the sling & grind off the sling swivels as soon a possible......

Corleone, from the town in Sicily. Their cut-down shotguns are called "Luparas" and one way you can determine their feudal natures lies in the height of the bushes and the stone wall fences-- waist high, to allow a kill shot to be fired by a Gabone with the Lupara- deadly stuff. RWTF

Wow cool never heard of those. The one on this wiki page kinda reminds me of the Ithaca car and burglar. A person could make one if they got the proper SBS stamp but prob not worth it unless it's a shotgun that is otherwise a basket case (to me anyway, Someone else
might think it's well worth it).

FAIR is making some cut down SXS shotguns they call Howdah guns but in 45 LC / 410 ga. They call them pistols. Barrels are 10” long. That would be a mean thing to face with 00 Buck in the 410s

One of my drillings came with a sling and muzzle cover. I stopped at the Franconia store and bought two narrow slings while I was vacationing in Germany.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I thought the howdah was being made by pedersoli? is this a different one?

the pedersoli is very nice looking and very pricey, for me, for a novelty item... I think wholesale is close to 1200$

if it had removable choke tubes like the TC contender,, I would keep one in my side by side 4 wheeler, when we are out at the remote mine, for the grouse and ptarmigan we often see when least expecting them
