I was directed to this rifle by a friend. I'm not an interested potential buyer, but I like the rifle and it intrigues me a little. Most notably, what is the lever that is at the tip of the forearm, or is that even a lever? It's front end seems a little peculiar. The hammers also look a bit different as if they are percussion hammers that are cupped underneath and the nipples are missing, yet this is a cartridge gun - perhaps a converted percussion or pin fire gun?

In any event, I find it interesting and thought some here might enjoy looking at it and answering a few questions about it.

A relative early breechloader, say 1870s-1880s.
Possibly 20 gauge.
The lever configuration is quite standard for the time:
turning the long bottom lever will tip the barrels to open the gun.
The smaller lever or key is holding the forend in place with the barrels. Turn it to disassemble the gun.
The high starting price may be due to the link to crown prince Rudolf, but I think this is doubtful....

Crown prince Rudolf's seal was R under a closed crown so this double rifle is not related to him.

Kind regards,
Jani
