I have one more Burgess shotgun than I need. This is in decent overall condition. It is a wrist slide action takedown shotgun made by one of the most prolific gun designers in American history, Andrew Burgess. It is a damascus barrel, Solid action and no cracks in the wood. A real unique and historic gun. It is best to email or call as I don't cruise the Internet much...

The pistol grip slides back to eject and load just like a pumpgun, but backwards...Geo

Yup, maybe shrapnel could show a picture of the action open. Great picture of the take down connection. Burgess came up with some interesting lever rifles. And sorry shrap, I suppose you’d rather just sell the shotgun, but good stuff.

It looks to me like the barrel and action fit together about like the Browning designed Stevens model 520 pump. Wonder if there was any connection there? Either way?...Geo

If my memory is correct there was an article several years back on this gun in Gun Digest.

very good price for a very rare gun. if I didn't have one, I would get this one. [ I am sitting abuot ten feet from mine as I write this ]

Shrapnel also has even rarer Burgess pump rifle. he outbid me for that a few years back ....oh, well. : )

and he also has the folding version of this gun, and the special holster for it. I am not jealous..... no, not at all

[ sniff, sigh ]

That appears to be the exact same barrel to action joining system that is employed on my Westernfield/Browning pumpgun. I have been under the impression, since I bought it, that the design was one of J. Browning's. What's the lowdown? Was the mating system invented by Burgess or by Browning? This is mine.

Here is a picture of one of my other Burgess shotguns that Steven Dodd Hughes used for an article in Shooting Sportsman. This is a Burgess designed and patented takedown that is superbly simple and functional. I have a copy of the original Burgess catalog too. These guns are quite rare...
