I KNOW A PICTURE IS WORTH 1000 words.

Photos will follow- But in the mean time, I have a Hoffman 375 that didn't come with the once installed scope mounts and I am hoping to get a scope back on it. The receiver was drilled for mounts w/ three screws at both the front and rear location. The footprint of the mount appears to have been oval will fully radiused fore and aft edges. Both mounts were less than 1 inch long. Anyone have idea what these would have been?

If I can't figure it out and find a reasonable option, I am likely to get talley steel blocks and drill my own holes.

Marks 21,
With 3 holes, both front and rear, I suspect it may have two different sets of blocks installed( at different times). I suggest you check different blocks again, but two holes at a time. Of course, if you want to drill blank bases for 3 holes there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, if the counterbores for the screwheads don't interfere or run out at the front or rear.
Mike

Yup, the last thing I would do would be to drill more holes.
