This is the Krag that was mentioned in the thread titled "What's been on your watch list" and that thread had a link to overall photos. I thought showing some details might give some clues as to who built the rifle. Anyone out there want to make a guess?
There are sure a lot of time consuming features that today would cost a fortune to reproduce. The buttplate with the stippling is from the Trapdoor from the same thread, making it seem the same person did both rifles. He used a M70 supergrade front swivel and a hook on the rear which is different.

All the weird details really reminds of the later James Howe rifles. I wonder if any of the details / buttplate engraving are shown in his books.

I really liked the trapdoor and should have bid alot on it...

I think most Niedner guns will have a Niedner barrel while this Krag has a Remington marked barrel. Not sure if the barrel was from another rifle or if Remington sold barrels which they marked.
