Tough deal to beat for the price. I thought it was an attractive decent quality sporter.

I guess so, I wasn't interested enough to bid. What do you think of the forend treatment?

The butt appears short in relation to the wrist. A length of pull inquiry by a potential bidder might have been helpful. Maybe, the stock was proportioned as a youth or ladies rifle.

A nice gun for the price. I especially liked the seller's comment about the serial number. "Over 300,000". How about "Way over 300,000"? Well at least it's a 1903 and not an O3A3. Congratulations to the new owner. I picked up a nice Sporter this weekend at auction, aftermarket checkering, Winchester steel buttplate, but everything else in place.

How about 'splainin' what difference it might make in a sporterized 1903 Springfield vs. a Remington sporterized 1903-A3?The 1903 had a slightly different stock/grip configuration than the 1903-A3, and the 1903 version's rear sight group was a "dead-nuts" copy of the Mauser 98 Gewehr. All that "Machts Nicht" once the weapon is sporterized. The best versions of that came from G&H, IMO.. RWTF
