I need to get an iron fit to a piece of wood, anyone with experience willing to help, maybe barter or trade, cash?

Perhaps a bit more info might help...what "iron" and what piece of wood?

Really need some more info as exactly what you have and what you want to do .

You are probably absolutely right, but this is the forend and iron, I think it might be a project I’ll attempt.

That forend wood looks to me that they never started life together. As a project I have found that forend wood fitting is a not that bad a challenging project. The classic method of going about things I still find to be the best after trying to do it other ways. Fit the Iron to the wood having the wood a quarter of an inch above the Iron's top surface then fit the wood to the barrel curves, if you make a mistake you should have enough wood in the blank to re adjust things then finally finish the wood to the correct shape. Chequering after finishing, though that is easy to say though in all honesty chequering is my Achilleas heel perfection it is not!

Well I tried! Went a little too far after a nice fit. Definitely a learning experience!

Get another piece of wood. You are “fresh” on it, and will likely do a better job, round two. If you don’t wait a few years, that is.
