Thanks CR, I have many old tools that i use. For cocking an Elsie i have a piece of 1/2 in hardened rod 2in long with a T handle on one end and a slot milled across the other end. Slot straddles the cocking rod, just give it a twist.

In my experience, a midsize Crescent wrench will cock a LC Smith at the cocking rod on the front of the frame very easily and reliably without damage. I shot a bunch of shells this way prior to fitting a forend.
