That's well worn? Tough crowd...

Lovely rifle, congratulations...

Extremely nice! I don't see a lot of wear except in the bluing. The wood finish and checkering certainly look excellent in the photos.

Where did you find it?

It was called a "Huffman" at small local auction. bluing is fairly thin on barrels. Wood and checkering are very nice.

That is a very interesting rear sight. I'm not well versed in them, so maybe it's my ignorance, but it looks unlike any I have seen before. Is it custom made or maybe a custom modification of a production sight?

Caliber/chamber?

It's a Whelen-Howe bolt peep that completely replaces the bolt shroud. Hoffman arms commercially produced them. It's a 30-06

It is a might fine rifle, even my my nonbolt rifle perspective.

I hope you get to hunt it someday soon. It would look really good next to an elk or mule deer.

Indeed- betcha a box of 30-06 shells that 90% of the bidders didn't know a Hoffman from a Huffman. RWTF

Very nice!! Thanks for Sharing. Get the correct Lyman 48 on there and it will look even better. Those early Hoffmans are hard to find.

Very fine rifle! The more of Hoffman I see the more I like!
I am currently working on a story about a 1925 vintage Ardmore magnum Mauser Hoffman. The story will be in Sports Afield in a couple of months.

This is the first Hoffman rifle I've had on the workbench to "racoon" and I must say, I am really impressed with the quality and sophistication of the work. It also has the "Hoffman" marked sight with safety. The inletting is extremely well done as are the metal and wood finishes, balance and the all around detailing.

Hoffman was selling their bolt peep sights for $25 in 1923! A lot of money at the time!
