and i grew up in the very deep south in the fifties...
back then there was a real reason for racism...it was fear...
i came north to ny in 1960...
in the late 60's, there was the same reason for racism...guess watt, it was fear...

now, i have lived in nh for 20 years...no fear here...

slavery represented an economic power, that free labor could not hope to compete against...
plus, slavery anywhere, anytime is an evil, sinful practice...
facts are, the leaders of the south had plenty of time and opportunity to rid themselves of it...they choose not to do so...they/we suffered the consequences... Ed; 1; The War was not fought over slavery, Lincoln himself said so, & you know they called him "Honest Abe". I know its hard for you to see, but you did put a prerequisite of their being well behaved to be welcome and as you wrote it, singled out African Americans. Really? I clearly saw in Stan's post, the expectation that all visitors behave with respect. He punctuated that by relating how misbehaving whites had paid for disrespecting women and children, and even a story about a white guy who had to be rescued because he was "escorted" out to deep water due to his behavior. Of course, it's understandable that you missed all of that Nancy-boy. Only someone with a brain could see it. And we all know that you would never actually visit and voice your opinions there. If you ever did, the water level in the river would reach flood stage from you pissing yourself.
