KY Jon, if that's the weirdest skeet shooter you ever met, you didn't stay in the game long enough. I must admit that in all my years of refereeing NSSA shoots, I have only once had anyone claim a bird. I understand that is a bit different in ATA Trap. I didn't shoot registered NSCA long enough to experience clear vocal calls of "lost" on a regular basis, which would have caused a bit more claiming. Hopefully, things are different today and lost calls are understood.

2018 is my 18th year shooting registered NSCA sporting clays. I've seen a few cheats, crybabies and spoiled brats..............but I still don't think there are as many eccentrics and Weird-Os as there are in registered skeet and trap. Most, in sporting, are gentlemen and ladies. The complainers don't seem to hang around long, as they probably get the feeling they're not accepted. They're not, usually.

Skeet and trap shooters are more often rude and ungentlemanly, even when they are just "practicing". It is very rare to see those attitudes in sporting, even registered. These are just my opinions based on my experiences.

Making generalizations about people based on their favored shooting discipline seems pretty caddy to me. Lets see some proof that sporting clays guys are the good guys and skeet/trap shooters are weirdos and eccentrics. Gee whiz.

Eigthbore, you know the person I was talking about, Eastern Shore shooter. You might not know how weird he can be, good for you. He shot at National Capital many times. He had a two man partner, on shore shoots, who was the person who saw pieces off every missed birds. Was so emphatic, trying to get the ref to give the bird back, that one day when I was shooting on the squad and missed a diving high two bird I was embarrassed about his antics and trying to shame the ref into giving me a bird I missed. I turned around and told the ref that I agreed with her call and it was my job to hit the bird so everyone could see the piece. Pissed off my "squad mate" so much he did not talk to me for months. No great loss I figured. I hit my birds or miss them and just load the next shell. Not caring about what others think. It is a game people and I am not in Wayne Mayes league then or certainly now.

I've seen a few shooters claim birds they missed over the years, but very few. Cheaters never last long. Who wants to shoot with them and there are always better shooter to beat them in the end.

Every person on a shooting field needs to be polite. It is a hobby, not a job, so nobody needs to put up with their crap. And I never look down at a new shooter or a older one who is struggling. The first is the life blood of the game and the last deserve my respect because they supported the game for years. People need to get over themselves. I have met and know a lot of All American shooters and most have been decent people but none of them needed to be pains in the ass to shoot well. A few were just pains in the ass but they shot well without any doubt. You can not cheat, [censored] and con your way to the top. You can try it and make sure everyone knows what a ass you are but in the end it wont work.

I don't need to offer proof for my opinions. And you categorized them that way, not me. I think I said clearly that there are more of them ..............not that all of them are that way. Read a little more carefully, buzz.

I read perfectly clear and you made generalizations here. Whatever Stan. You express your opinion on just about everything so why not this too.

Is it somehow verboten to express my opinion? I did make a statement about how I feel, but I clearly said it was my opinion. I think you should not get so jacked up about others' opinions. If someone says "This is how it is, I'm right and you're wrong", that is entirely different.

Maybe the saying "The hit dog hollers" applies here?

Just asking.

I'm going to call it a night, buzz. Sorry I offended you. It was only my opinion, which carries no more weight than anybody elses.

All my best, SRH
