Keeping future prospects in mind it would seem smart to have guns able to accept ammo commonly found on sporting goods shelves and not have to rely on ordering stuff from far away. Anyhow in common calibers even in many EU countries all you need to buy ammo is gun permit handy to show them when buying. Such rules are designed to keep ammo away from people who should not have guns.

How come there aren't any rules to keep pot out of the hands of people who should not have pot? Maybe, folks should just smoke the common kind of pot so they can get it easily at the corner store. But wait, no background check needed for pot. Good thinking Jm, I feel better now.

Legalizing pot is a way of collecting tax money where none would be had if pot was illegal. Frankly given dire financial situation in many jurisdictions in this country pot use should be legal everywhere. You know, like use of alcoholic beverages and tobacco.

I am sure that in my state if they made cigarettes illegal, the state would go bust in a month.

I was in San Francisco for Christmas, visiting the kids. Saw a TV interview with the acting mayor, during which she said the city is trying to come up with a way to give preferential treatment for pot licenses and pot shop jobs to those who had been prosecuted under the old laws. Affirmative Action for dopers! What a state, always looking out for the criminals.

Not "going to be," already is a problem. Yesterday, some (all?) Walmarts posted notices stating that they are temporarily prevented from selling ammo because of state regulatory issues. "Please check back later." At least one Walmart, in Redding between Sacramento and the Oregon border, was reported to have posted a notice stating they would no longer be selling ammo. Redding is in the boonies, in the middle of prime hunting country.

Right to Bear Arms; but no mention of the ammo that goes with them. Sounds like reloading will become more popular. Lagopus.....

that is the hole in many of these states- i keep expecting them to come down on supplies

if (big if with my memory) there was a challenge many years ago to an attempted ammo ban in some jurisdiction - may have been Chicago- a total ban was decided to violate the second amendment - these mail order bans and such license regulations may effectively be a ban - but are not presented as one- so they might stand
